Need a Jail Release?

The first step in any case is to get released as soon as possible. In Travis County, most misdemeanors qualify for a personal recognizance bond, meaning you do not need to go through a bondsman.

Some misdemeanors present complications that can delay release, while others can be released within hours. Because every moment in custody seems like an eternity, call 512-677-5003 for 24/7 jail release. Messages left after normal business hours will be returned quickly.

Potential Outcomes

A run-in with the criminal justice system will hit you in 3 ways: 1) Time, 2) Money and 3) Criminal Record. Often a negotiated plea will include a compromise that is a trade-off of these penalties.

Your time can be affected by court dates, community service hours, classes and in some circumstances, jail time.

Your pocketbook will be hit with attorney fees, fines, court costs, registration fees for classes and sometimes probation fees.

Your criminal history will show your arrest and time in custody even if your case is dismissed. It will also show a conviction if you plead guilty or are found guilty by a judge or jury. In certain cases your criminal record can by expunged or sealed.

How Much Will it Cost?

Every case is different so I do not quote prices online. Cases are taken on a flat fee basis and PAYMENT PLANS are available.

Many factors will play into the fee, including type of charge, criminal history, and whether the alleged victim wants to press charges.

As a general rule, defense for Class B misdemeanors start at $1500. Class B DWI defense starts at $2500. Felonies and charges involving family violence are quoted on a case-by-case basis.
